There needs to be a pause in your life for you to ask yourself, where am I living by faith? Are you just living by your 401k, your retirement plan, your house and car and everything that you see, and you have stopped asking yourself the hard questions: God, where do You want me to step out in faith? There’s something beautiful when you feel as a leader, as a person, that you’re called to do but you don’t know how you’re going to do it. You feel like you’re weak, you don’t have enough resources to do it, but you believe God’s calling you to do it and you step out by faith, because you know God, you know everything in Scripture that is true.
Part of this pause and this 10-week summer journey that we’re going to go on is to help challenge your own faith. What is that thing that’s just been gnawing at you, maybe for a decade, maybe for a year, maybe for a week, that you just have this thing in you that you know you’re supposed to do: a new leadership responsibility, a new adventure that you’re supposed to go on, a new international trip that you’re supposed to take, maybe it’s adopting a child, maybe it’s fostering a child … I don’t know because the faith journey for all of us is as diverse as we are. The point is that there is a challenge that we say, “I’m not just going to live by what I know to be true, by what I can see with my own eyes. I’m going to be willing to step up and say, God, if this is what You want me to do by faith, I’m going to go.” There’s so much there.
During this leadership pause and this time for you to grow and develop as a leader, we’re going to offer you several different resources over this 10-week period of time. I’m going to be highlighting different books that I think could be of value to you in helping you think, helping you pause, helping you stretch your faith and helping you learn and develop. We’re going to take the pressure off you.
