22 Qualities That Make a Great Leader by Adam and Jordan Bornstein
“It’s been said that leadership is making important but unpopular decisions. That’s certainly a partial truth, but I think it underscores the importance of focus. To be a good leader, you cannot major in minor things, and you must be less distracted than your competition. To get the few critical things done, you must develop incredible selective ignorance. Otherwise, the trivial will drown you.”

The Trap of Tradition by Ed Stetzer
How do we as believers stay culturally relevant and not get trapped in tradition? Ed explains how:
In the business world, IBM, Xerox, Kodak, and many others learned this principle the hard way. There are myriad companies, once giants in industry, which either disappeared completely or are shells of what they once were because they did not see the need for change.
In similar fashion, many of our churches stand as visible reminders that we’ve valued our sub-cultures more than the people to whom we’ve been sent, and we’ve refused to change.
Culture is always changing. Always.
So, if we are going to continue to communicate the message of the gospel meaningfully, our churches must change as well.
What happens when your story hasn’t turned out like you wanted? When you feel there is a part of your story that you wish you could erase or edit out somehow yet no matter how hard you try, it’s there reminding you … accusing you.
I can feel good about where I am in my story and then, out of nowhere, something reminds me of harmful decisions I made in the past and shame hits me like the turkey buzzard that flew into my car on the interstate this summer. Feathers exploded 50 feet into the air like a giant pillow fight and cost me $2,500.00 in damage, though the bird fared a lot worse.
Friendship is the only thing that will show up at our funerals…
It doesn’t matter what you get done if you’ve undone a heart — and there are no real accomplishments apart from relationship. I pray that someday I learn not in synapses but in marrow and in bones.
