Few people truly love their jobs—for many, a job is a means to get by and enjoy the other parts of life.
I am thankful that God gave us the task to work, and my hope is that we can keep a biblical, positive perspective on our work. Sure, work isn’t always fun, but we can do our best to keep our joy and contentment in Jesus and see that overflow into our work and among our co-workers. Here are just a few Scriptures I find encouraging as I think about work:
“Whatever you do, do it enthusiastically, as something done for the Lord and not for men,” (Col 3:23)
“Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do everything for God’s glory.” (1 Cor 10:31)
“Commit your activities to the Lord, and your plans will be achieved.” (Prov 16:3)
“And whatever you do, in word or in deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.” (Col 3:17)
“So we must not get tired of doing good, for we will reap at the proper time if we don’t give up.” (Gal 6:9)
Selma, you have no idea how much this was needed for myself and others in our present work environment. I will be forwarding this to many today and praying as I do it. There is much uncertainty and fear within our place of work and we MUST remember who we work for.
