Every Word Matters
My husband and I have been married for 37 years. Each year, we have a marriage get away to reflect on the blessings of the past, do a marriage check-up on how we are doing now, and then to dream together about the future.
Recently, we went to the Smoky Mountains for a few days which has been a favorite get away for us over the years. Our first Smoky trip together was when we were dating. We love walking the trails and clearing our heads. Our favorite spot is The Chimney Park where we play on the rocks as the melted snow rushes down from the top of the mountains. This place clears our heads, refreshes our spirits and reminds us again of the greatness of our God. We are full of words as we leave. New dreams, energized by the grace of God in our lives, and thankful that we journey life together.
Since we first started dating until now, Rodney and I have always shared dreams together. Words shared in that safe place where you are fully loved and fully accepted. No matter how crazy or how wild or how impossible, you can say it. Dreams from the heart. Dreams submitted to God. I smile as I imagine God has smiled often during our dream talks. The truth is, God has taken our dreams and done more than we could ever have dreamed or imagined as we have seen Him work in us and through us.
“Now to Him who is able to do above and beyond all that we ask or think according to the power that works in us – to Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. ” —Ephesians 3:20-21
