One of the great joys of leadership is watching the success of your team. Today, we were able to honor three of the men on our team for their outstanding contribution – Fred Evans, Lawrence Kimbrough, and Rolando Gonzalez. They received the “Pursuit of Excellence Award.” Let me tell you a little about what I see in them that make them the right choice for this award:
1. They are each spiritual leaders. They are servant leaders who lead as men who spend time with God. Our strategy must always be in line with God’s agenda in the world. These men help assure that we stay in alignment with God’s specific direction in our work.
2. They are leaders committed to grow. We want to grow our market reach and it requires leaders who face the challenges of the market and culture we serve and are committed to growth. Our business growth is a reflection of the ministry reach of our work. These men lead with resolve to do more to reach more with the gospel.
3. They are leaders committed to excellence. Excellence is not perfection but it is about setting a higher standard, about constant learning, and constant improving. They model well what it means to personally grow and develop. They see the opportunties as greater than the challenges.
4. They are leaders who teach. They are more committed to the organization’s success than their own individual success. They learn to teach. They develop and help others to be successful and celebrate their success. They are great team members and respect the contribution of others on the team.
So today, we celebrate these three men and their leadership in B&H. It is an honor for me to serve with them.
